Hello,
I just installed a gentoo system on a laptop. It seems all fine so far, only the shutdown does not run until power off.
Instead, the shutdown runs until the screen is black, and then it freezes - some LEDs are still on.
The fan is going louder an louder, but it does not switch off.
I checked /var/log/messages and /var/log/rc.log, but I found no hint. So, probably it freezes after stopping the logs.
I am using Openrc and a setup with a completely encrypted system, with an encrypted /boot on a USB stick.
This setup works fine on two other computers.
Since there was an working gentoo installation some time ago on that same machine, it can not be a hardware issue.
Probably there is something missing or wrong with my installation.
Any hints how to investigate the problem? |

You may want to share and perhaps the output of
I would also ensure that your laptop's firmware is up to date and would try gentoo-kernel-bin to rule out kernel configuration. |
