In wiki no words about generating fstab, and after all done, needed set password IN chroot because in begging it sayed about creating user, and setting password for root, But this not in chroot, and it will be dont need to change password, and creating user not in chroot. And no words about setting up hostname.
Devs of wiki please notice my message thank you.

You don't generate fstab in Gentoo, you create it by hand (see https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/System). You need to set a password for root before you reboot (inside the chroot) or you will not be able to login to the system.

justguy , thank you for your feedback. To make such claims more valid, please provide more context.

What wikipage did you follow and which steps did you take?

Quote:
In wiki no words about generating fstab,

As yaslam already said and linked, the wiki tells you what to do AND tells you the following (which also tells you that there is already a file)
The default /etc/fstab file provided in Gentoo stage files is not a valid fstab file but instead a template that can be used to enter in relevant values.

needed set password IN chroot because

This is listed here https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/System#System_information
And since executing the chroot https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Base#Chrooting there is no step telling you quit this chroot. So, following the handbook you are still into the chroot.

And no words about setting up hostname.

This, you can find here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/System#Hostname

To avoid any future misunderstanding, please provide enough information to validate your points and be polite.

justguy, it does tell you to set the password for root and also create a new user here https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Media#Optional:_User_accounts

It makes sense (and is absolutely necessary) if you're going to ssh into the running install media to complete the install. I do this all the time as it's way more pleasant to do an install from within my GUI terminal.

Also:
  • Here's where the Handbook advises setting the root password within the chroot.
  • Here's where the Handbook describes setting the hostname.

Correct, that is to set the password for the root user outside of the chroot. But, this is so that you can for example SSH into the PC and do the installation from another PC, or create an unprivileged user and get support on IRC with your install.

The Wiki instructs you to set a root password for the actual system (inside the chroot) here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/System#Root_password
And tells you to create a user account (at the end of installation) here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Finalizing#Adding_a_user_for_daily_use

The fstab can be created (it is not generated as said above, you fill in a template) inside the chroot.

Maybe there is a language barrier or some other confusion, so there is another try:

The Handbook: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64 is splitted into multiple single wiki pages. You need to follow them all in the section Installing Gentoo. Starting with About the Gentoo Linux installation until Finalizing the installation.

There is also a single wiki page https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Full/Installation which you can follow from top to button.

Also keep in mind that you need to follow it through from the start to the end. If you do not complete the process as a whole you may need to redo steps, not everyone but some, which can be difficult to understand at first.

And please, read the suggestions and help of others. Right now it does not really look like you took your time to fully understand the replies you were given so far.
