Possibly a silly suggestion, but have you already verified that the machine is not simply overheating?

Not silly at all.

This machine had more and more issue, so I decided to open it, change the thermal paste. And voila, it has been running with an open Civilization6 in one workspace since yesterday.
That's odd, as I ran Gimps torture tests when I got the machine and it did not crash. I guess the thermal paste did not age as well as Riesling :?

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. The machine became unstable again. Upgrading to 6.14.x branch did not improve anything.

I temporarily "solved" the problem by switching to another mini PC with an utterly different architecture (and a bizarre name): AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 + 96 GB RAM. I copied the system on the new machine, booted a live ISO, adjusted some USE flags and the kernel config, recompiled everything, and it works like a charm even when it is overloaded. This little beast is amazingly powerful by the way.

I changed the thermal paste on the i7 again with brand new Thermalright TF9 thermal paste. Applying it was a real pain in the back. Anyway...
The i7-11800H ran mprime (from sci-mathematics/gimps) for more than 48 hours twice and the CPU temperature never exceeded 90 C (specification says < 100 C) and never crashed.

But... If I open the XFCE4 session and just wait, it will freeze sooner or mater. Temperature is not an issue IMHO.

I was planning to try kernel 6.15 but was just contacted today by somebody from Intel development team.
