This morning (EU time) I tried to emerge kicad. I had some use flags to change but nothing out of the ordinary (boost needed python and wxgtk needed gstreamer). So I made the needed entries in /etc/portage/package.use and started first ran "emerge --pretend kicad". One of the packages listed with "U" was cryfs. At that time I did not take notice of it, there were several packages that needed an update. All went well until it came to cryfs, below the /var/tmp/portage/sys.fs/cryfs-1.0.1/build.log:

Not being able to download the distfile is new for me in all the years. Looked on the forum but nothing about it. I started to write a post here but I had to leave for a meeting so I saved the build/log and shut the pc down.

Now I returned, ran "emerge --pretend kicad" again and was surprised that cryfs was not in the list anymore. So I ran "emerge kicad" it ran ok. I can start Kicad and it doesn't complain so far. I admit I still have to learn and go further with it. But I'm left with the following questions:

What triggered the cryfs update and how bad is it that it isn't updated?

So if this is the reason for the cryfs update then I'm very likely safe as I don't need plasma-vault for lxde.

Spanik,
you should sync the repo (emerge --sync) and update @world first, before install new packages.

The cryfs-1.0.1-r1.ebuild has a change in SRC_URI
it was fixed in April, see https://bugs.gentoo.org/955073

This means:
Code:
emerge --sync
emerge -avuDU @world
emerge -a --depclean
eclean-dist -d
should help :)

Oh right, thank for pointing that out. Didn't do it this time because I just wanted to give it a go to see if it could replace my aging version of Eagle.
